  1. I am sure you can stil recycle it......

  2. That is correct unless the sign was rubbed off.

  3. It is not mandatory for small items such as caps to have the sign. If your program recycles all plastics, include them. If only particular plastics (usually ## 1 & 2) are recycled, the caps will be placed in the general waste stream at the recycling plant unless they have an arrangement for other disposal.

  4. You must all ways recycle even though it doesn't say because if you don't then your just causing more Global Warming !!!!!!!!!!!!!Plus if it doesn't say then just write a note to the company and then they'll make sure that next time they do.

  5. that's probably right...  but you can always reuse.

  6. Not all packaging will have the symbol on it but most of it will or should.  For example the stretch film on a package of meat isn't going to have a recycle symbol on it.

Plastic falls into a couple of types:

Most plastic drink bottles soda and beer and water are # 1.  Which is PETE or polyehtylene terepthelate.

Most other bottles such as milk bottles, orange juice bottles, and such are made out of #2, HDPE or high density polyethylene.  Gas cans and detergent bottles are made out of this too because it is highly chemical resistant.

Most hinged lids and microwavable trays are made out of #5 PP or polypropylene.  This is because PP is heat resistant and has a good hinge property so that it can get bent alot without breaking.  The caps if you usually look up on the inside of it you'll see a little #5 or PP a lot of times.

Most foam cushioning is either made out of PE polyethylene or #6 PS polystyrene.  Polystyrene is also used for some really clear bottles that look a lot like glass.

Lids and stuff for like butter tubs are usually made out of LDPE #4 or low density poly ethylene.  This is what most of your plastic bags and films are made out of too.

#7 is other or a mix of different plastics
