I received a parking ticket for parking more than three hours on a street. The only sign on the road was no parking between 12:01am-10:00am. I didn't park until 11:40, and my ticket says i was there at 11:17... I was parked there more than three hours, so if I am at fault I have no problem paying the ticket, but I didn't know you couldn't park there, since it wasn't stated anywhere that you couldn't!

  1. Depends on the jurisdiction - most jurisdictions require it to be posted. You could always try to contest the fine, based on no visible signs.

Many ordinances are not posted (or are not well-posted), so you're taking your chances...

If you were parked there for more than 3 hours (and it was posted), it doesn't matter about the no-parking zone.

  2. You don't make it very clear here. Were you parked during the no parking period or not.
