I live in the sticks and we get some pretty gnarly weather at times, and we often have power outages that effect the entire area. Whether the power was lost due to lightning hitting a transformer or snow piling up on the lines, trees on the lines, etc, we are ALWAYS prepared. My husband is a firefighter and a sheriff deputy on the search and rescue posse for the county, so he has definitely made sure we have what we need in case of extended outages. Due to weather, the longest we have been without power was 3 days in the middle of winter. It was cold, but we made due. So basically to answer your question, we would know exactly what we were doing.
