A lot of my friends tell me that Ali's speed will tire Mike out but mike has speed and power at the same time.

  1. Ali.

Tyson was from a less competitive era. With the numbers of competing heavyweights in the 70's compared to the slumping 80's, we cannot even be sure Tyson would have made all the way into the top ranks of ali's era.

We can on the other hand say Ali from that era proved he could beat the best and most varied styles of fighters boxing ever had to offer.

    He beat them twice.

    Firstly when he was young.

Then he came back and found a way beat them all the new champions when he was old.

Can't compare some 1 time 1980's brick to that level of brilliance.

  2. without a doubt mike tyson! he fought with intensity and anger. he was flat out good and had enough speed and power. he didn't dance around throwing weak jabs and puches like most of boxers do. Ali is not even in his league. sure the numbers are better but look at the fights. did he ever come out fighting with intensity or madness? he was weird and was a joke! all he did was throw Weak punches and im like wow he throws some really soft punches. the only reason he got knockouts was because the opponent was Tired he didn't punch hard. none of the boxers back then could puch hard. mike tyson would punch someone real hard and make it count jus watch the videos and you will see. Mike wins!

  4. Ali..with out any doubt whatsoever...look who he fought in the 70's and 80's ...any of the contenders he fought could and would have[an some were] been great champs ...The Foreman and Frazier fights were just epic...He really was the greatest..Tyson never faced that caliber of competition..When Ali fought in the 70's and 80's there was a wealth of very talented Heavy weight contenders...no so when Tyson fought...with him it was sort of the "bum of the month club" ...The irony of it is...he ended up being the biggest bum.

now if You really want to Match old Iron Mike up.. with an old time boxer, here are some interesting choices....Jake Lamotta [the raging bull] ...Rocky Marcinano,or the great Joe Lewis

  5. I hate to say it but Iron Mike would knock him out in the first round

  6. "Sigh"  here we go again.

Ali was a very smart man and fighter.  He would be well aware of what he's up against with Tyson.  Tyson, for all his power and ability, was a one dimentional thinker.  He's a bully at heart but he would quickly realize he cant pull this with Ali.

Ali would realize the difference between Tyson and Frazier.  Tyson hits harder and faster.  He also takes a better punch.  Because he has been stopped, people think Tyson doesnt have a good chin.  He has one of the best in history.  His stoppages had nothing to do with his ability to take a punch.

The one thing Frazier had that Tyson does not have is late rounds stamina.  Tyson, even at his best, slows down late in a fight.  Ali would know this.  He would also quickly discover how easy it is to upset Mike and keep him off his game plan.  Ali would set traps and have the fight won before the first bell.  By the time the fight starts Tyson would come out looking to finish Ali with every punch thrown.  Bad move.

In the early going Ali would dance out of harms way, constantly heckling Tyson and causing him to become angrier and angrier.  Mike would have some success in the early rounds.  He would get Ali's attention in the 3rd with a hard right.  Ali would tie him up, survive and not make the same mistake again.

Young Ali doesnt believe he can lose.    The idea of losing can be planted in Mike's mind.  Holyfield did it best, even more thoroughly than did Douglas.

Mike would fail to keep ALi hurt in the early going.  He would slow to one punch at a time while Ali begins to pick up the pace.  Mike's right eye begins to shut as a result of Ali's razor sharp jab.

No one goes down in this one.  However,  totally exausted,  Tyson misses a wild right in round 13.  Ali side-steps and Tyson becomes tangled in the ropes.  Ali is on the attack.  He's planting his feet and landing harder punches.   Mike makes another attempt to fight back but he cant see or stop the punches from coming at an alarming rate by this time.

The referee steps into rescue a weary Tyson against the ropes.

    Ali by TKO in 13

  7. tyson had HAND speed, not "speed."  Ali had speed all around.  tyson didnt dance around the ring, he came straight forward.  tyson fits the bill of some of the guys Ali put down in his career, namely Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, and George Foreman.

unless Tyson somehow caught Ali with a miraculous hayemaker in the opening rounds, Ali would pretty easily cruise to a UD or late round KO.

  8. i think ali could take tyson if he dances which he will cuz tyson is a one hit wonder and ali wont allow that to happen cuz he will jab and go and tyson cant stand that much preasure cuz he might bite ali's ear off

  9. Ali would have been too quick, too skillful and had too much heart for Tyson.

If Ali was young the fight would have been similar to the Cleveland Williams fight - Williams was KO'd in 3 and hardly landed a punch.

When he was older Ali faced many feared punchers. He took Foreman's punches for 8 rounds before knocking him out. He faced Frazier 3 times, beating him twice, and took some tremendous punches during those fights without being KO'd. I have no reason to think Tyson would have been able to KO an older Ali (anty time before the Holmes fight) so even then Ali wins, more easily and probably by a KO or TKO in 1974 but he still wins in 1977 (when he beat Shavers) by a unanimous decision or late KO/TKO. In 1978 and 1979 he could still probably decision a prime Tyson.

  10. Ali by unanimous decision.

  11. tyson satnds no chance and u have to take in acount ali missed about 5 years cuz he ducked the army but ali would knock him fla tout!!
