  1. After the Queen and her descendants, the next in line is Princess Margaret's son, Lord Linley, then his children if he has any, then his sister, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones and her descendants.  And if that disaster were even farther-reaching and also killed all of Princess Margaret's line, the next King of England would be (shades of 1483!) Richard, Duke of Gloucester.

  4. The order of succession runs into the hundreds.

    Someone would be still alive.

  5. I expect there would be some tacky reality show in which members of the public vote on which Z list celebrity would be Monarch.

  6. At the moment, there are at least 1,468 people in line to the throne. It would be a remarkable coincidence if they were all wiped out. This system has been in place for a terribly long time and they've got people to cover it.
