  1. It would shut down and no data would be taken for a while.

    Or else the earth will split open--I'm not sure which.

    It turns out that the Earth and Moon are bombarded with fast-moving particles all the time -- they have the corny name of "cosmic rays." And it turns out that they are constantly reaching energies much higher than we expect at the LHC. So if the LHC were going to kill us, we'd already be dead due to cosmic rays. Since we're not dead yet, the LHC won't be the device that killed us. Hooray!  

  3. France and Switzerland would get sucked into a fist-sized black-hole.

    No great loss.
