  1. Get medical or psychiatric exemptions, request CO status or move to Canada

  2. Why don't the Iraqis just draft their own people if they need a bigger army to keep the country together?

  3. maybe your mom should get out of America too.  hippies.

  4. I like what your mom said :)

While defending our country is indeed a noble thing to do, no one should be FORCED to go to war.

  5. Technology News-http://livearticle.net/

  6. that sounds like the american way use a term from gears to show ur pride lol

  7. they have figured out a way to get around the draft, its called high unemployment. Enlistment always goes up when the unemployment rate is high. The govt is going to get what it wants any way necessary.

  8. They already did to our troops, its called Stop Loss.

  9. Well, they've already said that there will be no college exemption if the draft is reinstated, so your mom needs to update her advice. So that option is out.

A draft for the Iraq War seems unlikely, a draft for a wider war gone sour is a real possibility though, so your mom is spot on there. A draft could happen if thee was another 911 type attack or an attack on Iran went south.

You have three options, if you are truly a pacifist and CO, you can claim that. It has to be very real though, few people are true pacifists.

You can always choose to serve your country, and stay true to yourself. A soldier not only may refuse unlawful orders, they are REQUIRED to refuse unlawful orders. The Nuremberg War Trials clearly established that.

You can refuse to fight, again choosing fair means or foul. If you believe the war should not be fought and refuse to fight, voluntary exile is an honourable option. Using family or political connections to avoid service or get service in a safe location is beneath contempt.

You can also refuse to fight and stay, knowing that jail or worse is your fate. Some would say this is the most honourable option of all. Might be the most dangerous too.

Your choice. I hope you don't have to make it. I pray our leaders have the courage and the wisdom to avoid a course that would require us to use conscription to fight a war, especially one in the Persian Gulf.

    Your mom is wise.

  10. All the young people o f drafting age should not mind serving their country,  however they should demand that there be no draft deferments for the rich and well connected- if every one was drafted and the"elite"had to serve too, there would be no wars.

  11. If you were a German citizen during WWII, would you fight for Hitler? The US attack and occupation of Iraq illegal. The UN Charter and Article 51 does not justify the US action. Technically, the administration and all of the participating soldiers can be considered war criminals. Pat Tillman promised to return to the US and work as an anti-war activist before he was kill by his own team in a free-fire zone in Iraq.

The US allows consciencious objection and if you do a minimal amount of reading, you will easily see that the so-called "war" in Iraq is unadulterated aggression by the US.

The only candidates who have a reasonable perspective on the Middle East is Mr. Ralph Nader, Green party candidates, and just a handfull of Democrates and Republicans.

If we bring back the draft, I would hope that the children of members of congress would be the first people drafted and sent to the front lines in Iraq. There should be no exclusions. Remember that most of the most vigourous hawks avoided the draft during Viet Nam. Rush Limbaugh avoided the draft using a silly health excuse.

I predict that if many people do not want to fight for American aggression, they will look into their souls and realize that they are homosexual. Clearly we can follow Rush Limbaugh's good example and find some kind of medical exemption or psychiatric exemption (I think Rush could have taken a psychiatric exemption as well).

It is wrong to fight in an illegal war. You can clearly establish your mental health by claiming:

    - 9/11 was an inside job.

    - US astronauts did not land on the moon.

    - The TItanic sinking was a conspiracy.

    - JFK was killed by Texans.

    - UFOs exist and I've met with them.

    - The US is a terrorist state.

I think that my beliefs will keep me safe from the evil doers.

  12. I'll be 27, too old to be drafted.  So you know what I'll do?

I'll laugh at all the fools who voted for McCain, munch popcorn, and watch them march to their deaths.

    That's what I'll do.

  13. That is not what you should do if you plan on coming back here. if you did that you would lose the respect of any sensible person in this country.

Go to college, that is the most you can do. If you are working for higher education and you aren't in the military, they will not take you.

  14. College is nice but you will have to learn to spell it..

Don't sweat it they can only use the draft for wars of principle like the struggle against Communism in Vietnam.  They can't send kids (of both sexes w. the new equality laws this time so there would be compensations!) to fight wars purely to steal others resources.

  15. That's pretty much what I would do. I don't care, call me a coward, call me a draft-dodger but I am not going into a war that I do not agree with and I am not going to be forced to do something I fundamentally disagree with just to make some rich, white man (i.e. Bush) feel good about himself and the "good" he is doing for the world. Realistically, if I was called to war, I would go on the run and seek asylum in Europe or Canada. But if they reinstated the draft and I wasn't drafted right away I'd escape to a different country while it was still legal to do so and d**n the consequences. I don't want to be in a kill or be killed situation ever and I won't do it of my own free will, I'd rather be hunted down and sent to prison than sent to Iraq.

  16. you should enlist to get  a bonus and sign up for a couple of years and sign up for the college 1st program. the way i see it, if they want you, they're going to take you.
