OK I've considered the military off and on for years, especially the SEALs program. Right now I'm in college getting a degree in Criminal Justice. I was wondering, if the draft were to be initiated, could I volunteer for Special Forces instead of just basic infantry?

  1. if a draft happens all u have to do is join on ur free will and u would have ur pick of any mos that u can pick now, if u wait till ur # is up then ur sh*t out of luck

  2. they will put you where they need you most, probably just to bolster up the infantry on the front line where your life expectancy is very much lower than anywhere else which is why they need you there so ugently in the 1st place.. maybe if your smart and very lucky they may decide to spare some time to train you for posting in the specials

  3. If they start a draft you might get to volunteer for the particular branch of service you want but beyond that it is all at the hands of the service.

FYI,  they do not draft officers.   They give you a "choice" of seeking a commission as an officer or being drafted as an enlisted guy.  Most people decide "volunteering" to be an officer is the better way to go.

Such as John Kerry.  His choice was to be drafted into the Army as an enlisted grunt or "volunteering" to be an officer.  Guess which one he chose?

  4. I am not sure, but you could go to the website and ask. www.navyseals.org Thank you for wanting to volunteer. Good Luck!

  5. Yes, after serving about 5 years, and attaining the rank of Sargent, you can apply for screening for Special Forces.
