If timidity were unattractive, then why isn't this trait extinct due to natural selection?

is it because timidity is a learned behavior rather than a hereditary trait?

  1. Fear, of which timidity is a mild form, is an innate & essential state, for the survival of every animal alive...


  2. Ugliness is considered unattractive by most, yet we still have it.

  3. It's not really unattractive, some girls like shy guys.

    Well also this trait is not passed down by genes, therefore natural selection has no effect on this. Timidity is caused by the person's enviornment, not his inherited DNA. A guy may have shy mom and dad but end up really talkative if he always hang around chatty friends.

  4. Timid=cautious. Which means letting other people do risky things, making you less likely to be killed by the cave bear lurking around the corner.

  5. Because timidity doesn't affect our ability to reproduce beings that are able to adapt to enhance survival.

  6. Because natural selection has to do with survival and not about what is attractive and what isn't.  People don't die from timidity that last time I checked.
