If two guys on a motorcycle would catch you in the night, threat you a with knife, would you run or give up?

I got assaulted yesterday for the first time in my life, I was very surprissed and shocked that it happened to me.

They waited for me to cross the street, the guy that was on the on the back of the motorcycle quickly got off and threat me with a knife, it all happened in a matter of 5 seconds!! I swear!!

I was impotent when I saw them running fast in the motorcycle that I started to call someone for help, I even tried torun behind them to see if someone would help, but the street on a Sunday night was almost lonely.

Luckyly I felt my coat and I found that I still had my cell phone and my house keys!!! I called 911 after less than a minute that that I got assaulted, but as usual they told me to calm down, to don't follow them under any circumstances and don't panic but I was so mad that I tried to follow them desperately for my bag, I had my debit cards which I called to block, I had two favorite books, my ID and work badge which I need to renew, some snacks and my wallet with $18.

I would have ran, no use trying to fight them for no reason, for a vehicle like that just go somewhere it can't easily go, or even try to go behind it so they have to turn or something. Unless your slow in that case WORK OUT so this won't happen easily again. Or learn some self defense. But even in self defense the main thing taught is often RUN AWAY don't fight even if your able to try to run away and avoid a fight, only when you must fight to protect yourself and you can't run away should you fight.

That's pretty scary. If it were me, I would run. There is no way I would give in to some low-life thugs. Glad you got away safely though. I might suggest getting a bike if you dont have a car, or get a ride from someone else at work.

Run unless you've already been grabbed.

Actually, in your case, running wouldn't have helped much unless you had the means to get a good distance between you and the other and some sort of deterrent (gun, pepper spray, etc.) that you needed a spare second to access.

Think of this as a reminder to buy a projectile weapon or learn self-defense.

Personally while the officer gave the standard general answer that is probably historically and statistically correct where no future harm or injury occurs to the victim of the crime.  Still what you did shows that it's up to the individual how vulnerable he thinks he wants to be in those circumstances.  You got mad to try to track them down.  At least you lived to tell the tale.

A few years ago I forgot my own advice and got in a middle of an argument and it nearly cost my life.  They were right and I was foolish.   The best thing perhaps people should do in those circumstances is with a cell phone take a video of what is happening and put it on UTube.  

Just be fortunate they were after a thing and not a person's life.  You can get the items you replaced.  But no one can replace you.   Take care.

Girl,  you are one lucky person!!!  You could have been killed.  I guess you did the right thing.   I know it is devistating to lose your purse and all of your personal information... but it would not have been worth giving up your life for... honestly.

I think I would probably just throw my purse at them and run the other way.   Because of all of the violence,  I try not to carry much in my purse.  Only one credit card.  I don't have an ATM and never had one... just for that reason.    I only carry about $15.00 at a time and then my check book.   At Xmas time,  I only carry one credit card and my drivers liscense in my pocket... not even a purse.  You have to be one step of the criminals... as that is the way they make their living... stealing from others.

I hope you will be all right... it will be along time before you get that feeling out of your system.
