If two hurricanes follow each other fairly closely, and go into, say, the Gulf of Mexico...?

Will the second one be weaker due to the warm water picked up and dropped as cool water(rain) by the first hurricane. Is this proven, or even possible?

  1. Gustav is being followed by tropical storm Hanna, which could grow into another monster hurricane.  I hope that it's not going to be a one-two punch in New Orleans.

  2. no it doesnt matter, but like they are saying hannah is becomeing weaker because of all the wind coming from gustav that is breaking up TS hanna

    so it really depends...

  3. No. The second could be weaker or stronger. The rainfall caused by the first hurricane would have less effect than the moving airmass.

  4. The one behind will weaken but that is probably impossible cause the one in front would push the bottom one away
