  1. I dont think tassie has enough people that go to the football to support a team down there despite the fact that a number of good players are apple islanders.

Richmond and Collingwood should merge and become the Inner-City Crackheads

  2. I think we need to keep 16 in the comp. I doubt rugby mad Sydney and Brisbane could support another team and the Gold Coast would be a gamble that might not work.

One thing for sure is Victorians (bar Geelong) need to get over their misguided belief that they own the game. They do not. Most of the WAFL and SAFL clubs have been playing footy for over 100 years too.

    Mathematically Melbourne is club saturated.

Melbourne (3.3 mill) - 1 club for every 375,000 people

    Perth (1.5 mill) - 1/750,000 people

    Adelaide (1 mill) - 1/500,000 people

    Brisbane (2 mill) - 1/2,000,000 people

    Sydney (4 mill) - 1/4,000,000 people

    Geelong (0.2 mill) - 1/200,000 people

Tassie have 500,000 people and no AFL team even though they are footy mad.

A better balanced comp would be:

    Melbourne - 6 teams

Gold Coast - 1 team (Kangaroos)

Perth - 3 teams (to replace one Melbourne side, maybe Carlton, a team that needs a fresh start)

    Adelaide - 2 teams

Brisbane - 1 team (rugby city)

Sydney - 1 team (rugby city)

Tassie - 1 team (old Richmond becomes Tassie Tigers)

    Geelong - 1 team

    TOTAL = 16 teams

  3. I think Melbourne, Richmond & Carlton should combine.

Maybe with their combined draft picks & picking through the list of old has-beens each team comprises of they may come up with a side that could be competetive.

They are all a bit of an embarrassment at the moment!

  4. It really broke my heart when Fitzroy merged with the Bears- I would hate to see any other fans of Victorian teams go through the same thing.

    FOREVER ROO BOYS

But I think a team based in Tassie would be great- a fantastic lot of players come from there :-)

  5. How about if West Coast merge with Fremantle and call themselves 'Perth'?

Seriously, as much as it breaks my heart to say it, two of the most marketable names in Australian Football have to be 'Melbourne' and 'Kangaroos' - how about the 'Melbourne Kangaroos'? That would guarantee their long-term survival and they would be based in Melbourne instead of having to relocate.

That way we can have the 'Southport Sharks' join the AFL - they're a ready-made Gold Coast franchise and the media can stop manufacturing stories about the North Melbourne move there.

  6. I think Hawthorn and Richmond and they should be called the Tasmanian Tigers.

  7. I don't think two teams should merge. But if it had to be i'd say Hawks and Bulldogs. I don't know why though.

They should just make a new team in Tassie and it would be cool to have one in the Northern Territory, to share it around, but I doubt that will happen.
