  1. Yes, because your over 16.

  2. There is no consumption of alcohol allowed on ANY USN ship.  The only exception to that, and I'm not sure if it still happens, is, for example, when I was on the USS Nimitz we were at sea for over 90 days and had a 'steel beach picnic' on the flight deck.  Each guy was 'issued' 2 beers.  By the time I got mine, they only had warm ones.  I gave mine to one of my shipmate. gag

  3. NO YOU CANNOT DRINK ON A SHIP!!! get caught and you will go to captain's mast.

  4. while in the navy... no

  5. Normally alcohol is not allowed onboard a Navy ship. However, there is an exception. If the ship has been at sea for 45 days, the CO can authorize a Beer Day. Not sure of the particular rules, but while I was aboard CVN-71 during the "Iron Man" cruise, each crew member who was over 21 was allowed 2 beers. Doesn't matter if you're in international waters, the ship itself is U.S. soil, so the drinking age is followed.

  6. There are better reasons to join the Navy.

  7. The U.S. Navy is "dry".  It has been so since the First World War by order of Navy Secretary Josephus P. Daniels.

  8. No one can drink on a ship, regardless of age.

If you are under 21 and on liberty in a foreign port, you abide by the rules of that particular country (ie if their drinking age is 18, you can drink if you are at least 18).

Edit: For the beer days, I'm deploying soon, and the policy I've heard from my command is 45 days.

  9. No you can not drink on the ship but you are allowed to at ports where the drinking age is 18.

  10. It depends on who's water your on. If you're still in American water then you can't.

  11. Dry Navy? LOL that's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one!  But yes, to sum it up you can NEVER drink on board the ship, but if you are in foreign ports you may follow their legal drinking age laws.  The commanding officer of the ship (or individual squadron on board the ship) may still raise the age to 21 for his crew even if the local law is lower.

  12. all US vessels are dry.  No alcohol allowed unless at sea more than 30 days straight, and then it is Command discretion whether you get the real stuff or near beer.

Bill: it's 45 days?  thought it was only 30....

  13. No booze on a US ship.  You might try to join the UK.
