Don't tell Teemu Selanne or Jagr or Mario or Brett Hull you said Ovie's the best scorer since Gretz but I would take Sid.He is a leader and more then a scorer he's a great passer as well.

It would depend on what type of team I already have, but I'd probably go with Sid. He can score and make the teammates around him look extremely good. He's arguably the best passer in the league, and his ability to keep puck possession in the offensive zone is almost unbelievable. He's got everything a great forward needs, speed, strength, great scoring ability, amazing passing ability, and a great hockey mind.  He's an awesome team leader, and I'd love to have that type of leadership and skill on my team.

Ovechkin is an absolutely amazing scorer. He and Crosby are soooo different; I don't see how people could compare them in terms of "who is the better player?" They're each great at different things that are equally as important. I just don't think Ovechkin has the same team leadership and passing skills that Sid has.

They're both AMAZING players, though.

Depends on the makeup of my current team.  If I needed a pure sniper/power forward, I'd go with Ovechkin.  If I had guys who could shoot and needed a pivot...I'd go with Crosby.

Given that Crosby has had two ankle/foot injuries over the last two years, I'd want a team of doctors looking at his gams to make sure it's nothing chronic.  I'd also want a full medical of Ovechkin's shoulders.

ovechkin is the way to go. He hits he scores he playmakes though not as much as crosby but still good enough, Getting much better in the defenceive zone can play all positions well the list goes on.

Crosby because Ovechkin hits too much, and the way he throws his weight around (though I like it) he is going to have to retire first. Also Ovechkin is a more selfish player, Crosby makes everyone around him better and sets up plays better than Ovechkin. Crosby also is a smarter hockey player, so all of those qualities beat Ovechkin even if he is a little more talented.

I would take Ovechkin.  He plays better defensively, penalty kills, and a player with that kind of goal scoring ability is very rare, way rarer than a playmaker like Crosby.  Remember, Crosby is a great playmaker, but the guy he passes to still has to finish.  Right now Ovechkin is the ultimate goal scorer.  He also can play physical and will probably stay healthier over his career because he is bigger and can defend himself.  I really can see Crosby battling a bunch of injuries throughout his career.

Alex O all the way.  He's the complete player with speed, drive, power and scoring ability.  Crosby is a franchise player too, but i rather have Ovechkin.

i think more of the fans would go with ovechkin right now because of his spectacular season last year and scoring 65 goals which is phenomenal. but i think the tides will turn back to crosby...and we'll see him dominant the game like no other currently in the nhl(past ovechkin's level of last season). i think maybe within 2 years we'll see this.
