  1. It's not just ok, it's the best thing you can do.

    Hang tough!

  2. I wouldn't help them at all.  If they have the attitude they won't pay you back for previous loan simply tell them they made no attempt to pay you before and the bank is now closed.

  3. I used to  be the person that everyone came to when they needed something. Then i grew a spine....family or not, i was done letting people walk all over me....I love them more than anything, but helping them out would be like standing on nails. Dumb as h**l! It aint bad to say NO it makes you strong.

  4. Keep the "personal" out of it. Send them to a payday lender.

  5. This is the hardest part of relationships. When someone wants to guilt you into giving them something without giving you anything in return. Pretend a straight A student gets a car from mom and dad. The student supplied the parents with joy and that outweighs the cost of the vehicle.

In your situation the other person is giving you nothing. Whether it is material or intangible. What you are doing is enabling this person to be a bad person. They are trying to hook you into thinking a good person would have shared their good fortune when you don't give them money.

What you need to do is realize you cannot help this person and they need to help themselves. If Don Pedro can come to this country with 2 nickles in his pocket and work his way into owning several restaurants your family member can do the same thing too. But, they cannot do it when you are giving them everything they need. They will never ever learn to do things for themselves until you stand up for yourself.

  6. Count this experience as among the lessons you need to learn in life...A good rule is: NEVER lend anyone cash, particularly not family or cousins, unless you accept the fact that you're never going to get that cash back.

    I've had good results here...
