  1. Just the pure adrenaline rush of sparring will take care of the pain part (at first), you won't really feel the punch or kick until the fight is over. So just get psyched up for the fight and have fun with it, and take care of your wounds with some ice packs later!

  2. Seriously? Defend as best you can, but realize that you are going to get hit. And the more you do it, the more you will get hit. Thats just the nature of it. The best way to fight fear is to face the fear itself. If youre afraid of getting hit, then just by getting hit enough times, youll become more used to it.

As for the guy who fights at school...  youre a manly man arent you. Go finish your math homework or youre not getting a brownie tonight after dinner.

  3. thats exactly why they spar so hard!!!

  4. It going to be scarry

Its kinda like the time before kick off in a football game.  You are all jazzed up and full of adernalin.  Then you get the first hit out of the way and your fine

So yes you will get hit.  Yes it will hurt (thats part of the fun) And yes you will get used to it and then no longer have fear of it

I guarentee it is much better to get jacked in the face for the first time by your training buddies who care about you then on the street by someone trying to seriously hurt you

  5. Most of the time in a kickboxing style sparring match, depending upon where you are, you will be offered some protective gear - I.E. A headguard and gloves. Also, you should be able to pick up a mouthpiece at any sports retailer in the area. They're fairly easy to mold but you have to be careful not to bite through them.

Honestly, if they have protective gear there's not really that much chance you're going to get hurt, as long as your opponent isn't some loose cannon that needs to be kicked out anyway. When you do take a punch your adrenaline will probably kick in and you really won't feel it that much (until the next day of course).

Truly though, if you want to spar, then getting hit is going to be part of the routine. Getting used to it now will help you strategize and avoid getting hit in the future. Once you're not afraid of a punch you can watch it and react to it better. Just give it a try and tell your opponent its your first time and not to go full out on you. Hopefully they won't be thick-headed and will help you out.

  6. You just have to take it like a man and toughen up. You'll build a tolerance to it.

  7. If you kickbox, you're going to get hit. Get in the ring, and deal with it. Otherwise, IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT, STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN. Good luck.

  8. tell your instructor to break you in slowly with light hits to hard hits later on in your training. the fear is natural, but getting used to being hit is also natural. you'll get used to getting hit, there is no such thing as a fight where you wont get hit, unless you have tons of experience and kno wat your doing

there are ways to reduce the pain of impact if your not that resiliant:

do a lot of sit ups daily in order to reduce the pain of intense hits to the gut. strong abs equal less chances of blacking out from a solid blow

if your quick to react, u can reduce impact from hooks by moving you head towards the direction of the hook (this is called slippin), it will hurt of course, but better than being stiff and getting knocked out, but it also depends on the amt of skill your opponent has.

learning to evade is a valuable skills if you notice within a thousandth of a second that your opponents attack is to powerful to block. evading and countering at the same time is a skill that is hard to attain, but not impossible

  9. You have to accept that you are going to get hit, then you have to stay in the box and get hit. The only way to get used to being hit multiple times is to get hit multiple times.

  10. hmmm well get hit lol

getting hit isnt that bad just take some damage then itll seem like nothing

  11. My method when I'm kickboxing is to focus on winning and catching their weak points. I focus so much on being the best and hitting them with my strongest that I don't even realize when I get hit any more. It's all about focus and resolve, you'll be fine as long as you keep your guard up and do a lot of winning.

  12. If you plan on fighting, whether in the gym or in a bar, plan on getting hit. The key to longevity is by neutralizing the power behind those hits by rolling with the strikes, parrying, or slipping/weaving in and out of the fight.

The fear of getting hit will serve you well. I've seen meat heads that don't give a sh*t about getting hit because they can take it - and guess what happens? They get it enough times and down they go.

  13. I box and the new guy at the gym is always called the punching bag

  14. keep ur chin, down and just take it basically, the more u get hit, the harder u will punch back, i was kind of worried about punching and taking punches when i first started kickboxing, but as soon as u take a few shots and lose all inhibition and ur hands will just go, and u will start to ignore the hits ur taking

so just go get punched, and keep ur chin down, hands up

  15. When you are fighting or even sparring the adrenalin your body produces will wash away most of the fears the you might feel about getting hit. After the fight is over you might get a rush from the adrenalin and will come to like the feeling that you get when you fight.

But until that happens take it easy, defend more then attack and explain to the people you are sparing with, if they could pull their punches just a bit until you are all right with getting hit multiple times. But after a couple of lessons you should be all right with full force kicks and hits.
