  1. Yes, there could be something wrong with her hormones or diet.  Or, there could be nothing wrong.  Take he to the pediatrician.  An eight-year-old should not have so much stress that her hair is falling out. If she really dislikes her new step-dad your sister needs to take it seriously and find out why.  Then, she has to work on this problem.  She can't just ignore it.

  2. It could be stress, but the only one that can say it is, or it's not is a doctor.  If this was my daughter, she would be seen by a doctor NOW.

  3. Well if she's losing it to the point that you can actually see bald spots or thin spots then yes you should be worried and have her to a doctor...if she's losing hair but her hair still looks the same as before then it could just be stress or she could just have thick hair...I know that I have really thick hair and I have always had lots o hair fall out in the shower or whent I brush it or put my fingers through it or anything but I mean you could never tell it by looking at my hair so it could just be something like that.

  4. All I can say is the poor little thing! Your sister may not want to face the facts but it is time she took that poor child to the doctor! Those are signs of desperation  and depression for the child. The mother  must recognize  these symptoms and act on them.! If she doesn't. no matter what you think of your sister you have to protect your niece if your sister won't. IT is your  Duty an an Aunt.

  5. hair loss is  normal up to a 100 strands a day. my hair is like what you described. your sister needs to talk to her childs doctor about this there could be a medical reason.

stress is a big factor your sister needs to talk to her child. ask her whats going on in her l8ife that could be causing stress. and actually listen.

hair loss in a healthy person is normal. up to 100 strands a day

  6. She should be checked out.  She could have alopecia.

  7. It could be, but getting a diagnosis and not addressing the problem does nothing. If this is the case she needs to see a psychologist to talk about whats bothering her. Also a pediatrician to make sure its not a symptom of an underlying issue.

  8. It is stress that's a major cause of hair loss it could turn into alopicia which unfortunatley there is no cure for.

  9. it can be stress, lack of nutrition, or otehr things.  first, get a second opinion with a new doctor.  Next, mayve talk to a nutritionist and see if she is eating properly.  Ask her if she is worried about something.  Switch her to a good shampoo and make sure she isnt using conditioner on the top of her head, only the bottom.
