If u return an item at walmart can you get cash back?

i have a airsoft gun that i have had for a week and it broke if i return it will they give me cash or will i only be able to get store credit

I just returned two items with a receipt, paid by debit and got cash back.  I hink it depends on what the item(s) may be......
