People from across the country can participate by sending Phoonk as an SMS to 57333. A maximum of five contestants will be short-listed from all entries received and then brought to Mumbai to try and test their courage.

The rules and regulations for the contest have been posted on the film's website www.phoonk.in.

Some of the rules for the contest are:

The film will have to be seen from start to finish, without an interval.

No cell phones will be allowed inside the theatre, which will be fitted with cameras to monitor the contestant.

The contestant will have to clear a medical test prior to the screening and sign an indemnity bond!

I personally don't think I would be able to go through with the challenge.

mm...i would like to watch it but i am only 11 years old!i used to watch BHOOLBULAIYA at sharp12:00..but i got dam scared.i love horror but i am not allowed to watch it (as i am too young for it!)i think that....RGV made his film AAG (fire)and his bad luck it did not work so he is making PHOONK(blowing)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!mera matlab hai ki aag nahi jali to woh usey phoonk rahaa hai!!

Hey folks ... It was a pleasure reading all the diverse comments, & I appreciate all those who've penned-down their thoughts. Since one has to be pragmatic/rational & prepared for the “Worst case scenario” in any business/venture, my personal analysis regarding this Rs. 5 Lakhs contest is the following.

Let’s just assume that the worse happens … that someone really kicks the bucket due to a heart failure while watching “Phoonk” all alone inside the Preview Theater. Do you think that RGV & Team would really want something like that to happen in reality ? Surely not ! I’m sure that RVG & Team would’ve been aware that in the event of such an unfortunate outcome, there’ll be a whole lot of problems … questions would beg to be answered from diverse quarters of the public, media would’ve interviewed Medical Experts (maybe even Psychiatrist/Psychologists also), maybe perhaps Lawyers even, Tantriks, Priests, actual Black Magicians, etc., & a whole lot of divided opinions would’ve surfaced from diverse public groups, all contributing to adverse publicity just before its release, thereby contributing to factors detrimental to this Movie’s success … who knows even if the imagination is stretched to the extreme ie. if this film is forced to quit further screening … any outcome is a possibility !

Moreover, if there really was an actual grave danger to life (bcoz of signing an Indemnity Bond just in case of a Heart Failure or if something similar is to take place), then this scheme/contest wouldn't at all have been taking place ! I'm sure RGV’s Think-Tanks (& possibly "Legal Advisors" including) must've done some serious Brain-Storming before announcing such a daring challenge out to the public.

In my humble opinion, RGV & Team have done a fantastic calculation in announcing this contest, & have done pretty well in heightening the public’s curiosity. I trust the wisdom of all those who read & comprehend my analysis to arrive at the answer themselves ... of whether "Phoonk is a dangerous film", so just think about it from a different perspective folks.

To RGV & Marketing Team, well done buddies … honestly speaking, your Marketing was real cool, & very brave & intelligent indeed  :)

Yes Phoonk is a dangerous film. I would'nt watch Phoonk. Coz if I see Phoonk and if get scared,I will fall ill and then half of the amount out the 5 lakhs would go for the treatment. So I don'nt watch such films.

come on guys !!!!!!! i dnt think tht a movie can kill a person .. unless he or she's a chicken or mentaly sick. moreover if u have seen the English movie, "The Ring", and still alive , then u wouldn't be scared of this movie either.. I'm not at all bothered about film"Phoonk" whether it is dangerous or not.I always love to take the challenges and I'm ready to watch the movie alone and I was eagerly waiting for this kind of challenges, as I heard earlier about the similar kind of challenge of english movie "Evil Dead" .I will be really thankful to RGV, If I get the opportunity to watch the movie alone...
