  1. You could probably google the name and get your answer. Sounds to me like a scam. No legitimate agent would ask for money up front. They get paid by booking you on gigs. my assumption is that you are inexperienced. You will need some training before approaching an agent.

  2. www.bbb.org and www.ripoffreport.com ( a lot of angry costumers bro check your self )

Hey man all you have to do is just google John Robert Powers and see what you find. It is one of the biggest scams of all time. As a matter of fact just type John Robert Powers on Yahoo answers and see what you get man. This is not a legitimate business. They'll steal your money by filing bankruptcy so you cannot get your money back. The way they take your money is by having you sign up for a plethora of classes that has zero benefit for you. I personally know it's a scam because I signed up for this company and I received a vast amount of calls from them stating they would like me to complete my application. If this was a legitimate business, they would not have left me a plethora of voice mail stating they would like me to join JRP and to contact them back. JRP is simply a cashcow. Be wise and just perform for local theaters. You will recieve great practice there. When you perform for theater compaines you do not pay a nickel. More than likely your going to have to audition and if your talented they will give you a call back. But never pay for acting, it is usually a scam when you have to pay high prices.

Good luck with your career, hope to see you on Broadway or the Big Screen!

  5. I suggest you start working and paying money.

And that's not a good agency if they make you pay up front. RUN if an agent ever makes you pay upfront.

Start joining community theater, and look for an agency that's SAG franchised.

  6. JRP is not an agency and is not a reputable business anyway.  Of course you got a callback.  So does everyone.  They want to make the most money they can and they give everyone the same speech.  No legit anyone in the business will stop you in the mall or place an ad on the radio... they get enough people sending them real headshots and great resumes every day and they don't have room for them all in their agencies.  Why in the world would they ask for more?

Your money would be better spent getting real training in a great acting studio and supporting yourself while you work in theatre or doing student and indie films while you build up a real resume.

check out BBB.org and ripoffreport.com for more JRP info...

    good luck,

    Marianne
