Well, to cut out the middleman that runs the charities, that takes a large salary, I'd search for people who really needed assistance and give it directly to them. Especially for ill children.

I would give to St. Judes, American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis, and to my local churches in my community and surrounding ones.

I'd give it to the Cancer Society, local abuse shelters, and the American Heart Associations. I'd also set some aside to be given to the homeless shelters, pet shelters and to the community I live in. If I read of people in need of money to help a loved one with medical problems but unable to afford it I'd also give to them after doing some research and making sure it was a legit claim. Then I'd put some in trust for each of my grand-children and teach them to give to society also.

1- Local women's shelter.  Most of the people there are legit and not just looking for a handout.  They also usually have children and need counseling and legal help; not just food and shelter.

Toys For Tots. I would go to the toy store, and buy a bunch of toys and teddy bears, and make sure everyone had a great christmas.

Then I would buy a bunch of carnations, and put one on every grave stone that didn't have a flower, so that everyone can be thought of.

I would also donate to Demelza House Children's Hospice, in Kent, England.  Have been donating to them for 4 years, but it's never enough. I'd really like to make a difference. So that money would help them alot.
