  1. Suspended means you do not have the privilege to drive. This makes you unlicensed. This also means your insurance will not cover you. Insurance companies do not cover unlicensed drivers.

  2. Your insurance would still be valid per se.  However, if you were involved in an accident while your license was suspended, your insurance company might fight paying the claim.  Also, because one is caught by police driving with a suspended license does not always mean that the person will be arrested.  In most states, DWS (driving while suspended) is a misdemeanor if the driver has a previous conviction of DWS.  If your license was suspended for another reason, unpaid speeding tickets for example, and the person is caught driving, this normally results in another ticket.  The misdemeanor version of DWS can also result in a non-custodial arrest.  This means that you are issued a ticket and a date to appear in court.  In the eyes of the court, this is an arrest.  However, you are not incarcerated on the spot.  This type of scenario depends on the circumstances of the case and largely on the attitude and level of cooperation of the driver.  Again this can differ from state to state.

  3. If you read your policy you will notice the requirement of having a valid driver's license.

  4. Insurance will NOT cover an unlicensed driver, and a suspension on your DL means you are not licensed.

And yes, that's another violation to not have insurance.

In my state (Texas) Driving with a Suspended License is a jailable offense.

  5. it probably depends on the policy
