If violent video games supposedly encourage violence, then why don't...?

If violent video games supposedly encourage violence, then why don't:

- video games involving dragons encourage people to dress up and pretend to be dragons?

- or games like Guitar Hero encourage people to dye their hair, get piercings and tats?

(I mean, can you legitimately claim causation only works very selectively?)

Dissect my syllogism.

  1. well, i dunno. i've seen some of those folks who play those "medieval rpg's" dress up & play with FAKE swords, axes & other time era weopons...

but all jokes aside, you've got a valad point. the problem is, when people are looking for a scapegoat to pin violence on, they almost always over look the whole picture & just narrow in on what they think is "justafied means".

here's a better anology, (kicking it old school here), how come SUPER MARIO BROTHERS didn't encourage more kids to try 'shrooms? or how come SONIC THE HEDGEHOG never got kids more active into putting on red tennis shoes & running as fast as they can? speaking of tennis, how come PONG never influenced a generation of tennis players?

the only thing i see that video games can be linked to violence is the lack of skill most of these "disgruntled youth" have with REAL weopons like guns & such.

  2. I believe dressing up the way they see things on the video doesn't involve violence. What's being seen here as violence is the action involve which promotes crime like killing in whatever forms. There is no problem on the suit or costumes they wear but the very act of violence is the issue here.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!
