  1. There's no point in drafting people for a war that will last 90 minutes tops.

  2. no. and cb nailed it they should not initiate a draft because alot of americas milttary power is because we all volunteer force and I know the people here with me all raised there hand and took the same oath i did.

  3. Woman don't register with the selective service.

More important - We have a all volunteer force.  We prefer to have people serve that want to be there - the odds of a draft are very small.

  4. I'm a Russian born U.S. citizen. Draft me at risk, because I am not shooting either side.

Especially since a nuke would probably shortly be landing on my head.

By the way, no such war is looming. Something like a cold war, with proxy wars fought by our allies versus their allies, is possible... But such a scenario requires no U.S. draft.

  5. There will be no draft

A number of the members of my party have been trying to frighten gullible people into beleiving there will be a draft.

Many of the members of my party achieved their greatest sense of power in the protests against the draft during the Viet Nam war.

These people are actually the ones agitating to bring the draft back.

It is not because they like the Draft but they know how to use the Draft as a political tool to get people frightened and out in the streets protesting.

The Draft is also a good fundraising tool.

Fortunately the military does not want the draft because drafted soldiers have disciplinary problems and lack motivation.

It takes an enormous amount of resources to train draftees and the draftees return very little positive result.

  6. Mike, I would have to disagree, if we went to war with Russia I do not see how we could do it without one, I also think it would not have the problems they would have if they had done the draft just for Iraq. As for the Draft of women, I do not think so, the slots for women in the military are quota driven right now, a war like that would give way to practical means and hence the concentration would be on combat jobs of able bodied men, they might have one for certain jobs though such as the Medical Corps, etc..for females to allow more men to go into the Combat Arms, but that is from a practical point, is does not mean politics won't get involved. I guess all I can say is that I would hope not, that if they did it should be for support missions only so as to allow the men to flow into Combat Arms, but who knows for sure.

  7. only men 18 and over... women don't get drafted
