If water is clear, why do clothes get darker when they get wet?

  1. because the cloths when wet have a subtance in them which makes then darker.


  2. because the clothes have dye in them

  3. Im just guessing here, but maybe because they become denser, therefore less light reflects off them ??

  5. Water shrinks each individual colored clothing fiber so that they all become more closely associated with each other. Because there is less non-color space between the fibers, the color appears deeper.
