Question:

If we're having trouble economically, how will high gas prices impact us?

I was thinking about this. Say it costs a person $50 a week to fill up on gas. If gas prices double, it could cost them $400 per month to fill up. There are a lot of poor and lower class people who would have to quit their jobs because gas would cost them more than they make.

What is going to happen to this country? I feel like it's the end of the world because of how crazy prices have gotten. It's nuts and I hope that whichever president wins, does something about this economy.

How does the economic stimulus check help a country so in need of a permanant fix? IT DOESN'T.

  1. You're right. The fact that the supply of gas is finite and rapidly running out is really a problem we HAVE to solve. We need more money invested in alternative energy research, because without it, our economy is really going to suffer. Planes, trucks, personal cars, without them we are stagnant.

  2. Imagine paying $8.70 a gallon for gas in England, we have some of the lowest gasoline prices in the world.

    It will affect our economy by more people buying fuel efficient cars.

    The market will respond by actually taking alternative fuel seriously.

    Or perhaps public transport will be improved upon, because we all know America is falling behind on that in most places.

    The lower class, if no good means of transportation is available will have to live closer to their work. Why go to work if you make as much in a day as it costs to fill up your tank, better staying off at home and getting the unemployment check.

  3. Any cost increase of any kind, gas, taxes, whatever, on ANY segment of the population (not just poor people, but rich too) causes INFLATION, which is bad for EVERYONE.

    Everything is going to start costing more, because energy is used in the production, distribution, of everything.

    The answer is to stop listening to environmentalists, who have been wrong on so many things, from nuclear power, to ethanol, and DRILL OUR OWN OIL.

    We have enough of our OWN OIL for at least 400 years, but the environmentalists have stopped us from getting it.

    Same thing with nuclear power - they are the ones who managed to get the government to stop building nuclear power plants.

    Now we know that was an incredibly stupid decision.

  4. IF ANYONE DOES NOT LIKE PAYING THESE OUTRAGEOUS PRICES FOR GAS, THEN YOU SHOULD TELL CONGRESS TO GET THEIR HEAD OUT OF THEIR ASSSSSES AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING FOR THE UNITED STATES PEOPLE, STOP ****** HELPIN THE DUMBASSSSSSSSS ENVIROMENTALISTS.

    ENVIROMENTALIST=DEMOCRATS

  5. It's not just car transport that will be affected. Many airlines will have to ground some of their fleet because they simply cannot afford the rise in gas prices.
