  1. in tucson we have places to take household waste & old batteries is considered that on of those like on the first sat of the month they have places to take them to & during the rest of the time there are other places to bring them check your local city gov web site for places like that in your area

  2. Collect them and take it to disposal site near you or mail it, for recycle.

You may need to wrap them in non conductive plastic during shipping and storage

Lithium and platinum for sure. Al other battery can cause fire and have acid or base in them as electrolyte.

Platinum is a very useful rear metal and lithium is rear and hazardous.

In USA in most states most store with certain volume of sale are suppose to collect them and manufacturers are suppose to recycle or do safe disposal, by picking up or receiving the shipments.

  3. I save my batteries in a special place.Like a box,a bag or something similar until it is halve full.I then mark the box or bag "Used Batteries" and put them out with your garbage.

Or call your  for "Area Re-cycling "depot.

Also look up Batteries Recycling on the computer.

  4. Call your city disposal department. There is most likely a recycle drop off day for batteries, electronics and other non-trash (recyclable) items that you can dump off at no charge.

I see one in my area every few months.

    Good luck Hon!

  5. Check with your city's waste disposal for hazardous materials programme.  Also, I think some electronics stores like Best Buy and Radio Shack have recycling or waste disposal for batteries.

  6. call your local dump. I used to keep old batteries, but they got so piled up, i just threw them away.

  7. Ideally, batteries should be recycled, hwoever most of them end up in landfills. I know in Canada there are a couple of collection programs, depending on where you live, however, "there are no known recycling facilities in the U.S. that can practically and cost-effectively reclaim all types of household batteries, although facilities exist that reclaim some button batteries." There are also battery collection programs, "typically target button and nickel-cadmium batteries" - often however, such programs are very localised. I would suggest looking your your city's website for more information. Another option is to buy rechargeable batteries, so that you are recycling them yourself. :)
