If we abolished taxes, where would the gov't get money?

This is an honest question, and it has nothing to do with parties.

I'm just noticing on the news a lot of ppl suggest greatly reducing or eliminating taxes all together, but I just wonder where the money for the military, education, public transportation, and such would come from? Or would everything gov't run be abolished along with taxes?

It wouldn't, pure and simple.  The only other alternative would be for the government to run businesses and use the profits to fund government programs.  That system has already been proven a failure; it's know more commonly as "Communism."

They would get money from import tariffs (a form of a tax) like they did before income taxes and many other taxes were enacted.
