I know a lot of sisters who wear pants. Also what are the basis for the no cross dressing/ gender bending in Islam? Could some one enlighten me please? Sources are greatly appreciated.

  1. Society and religion think it is healthy for boys to want to be boys and for girls to want to be girls.  When a boys or girl wants to ge the other gender then society regards that as unhealthy.  It certainly is sad.

Clothes are fabrics have no gender.  Its just a matter of how its used.  Jesus never owned a pair of pants.

When women first began wearing pants people were shocked... They thought that these women were trying to act like men.  But when society realized that they could wear pants and remain female, even feminine, and they really were not trying to be men, then it was okay.

When men's fashion began to change and some young men began letting their hair grow long, or when young men began wearing earrings, people were shocked.  Were these men trying to act like women?  No, they stayed masculine, and were not trying to become women.. So that too became acceptable in society.

Men who dress like women and pretend to become women is wrong.   It is wrong because they have stopped being who God made them to be.   That is what Islam, Christianity, or even society is condemning.

  2. Men are just jealous because it's not socially acceptable for them to wear skirts and dresses.

  3. It would depend on the time period and culture. Today, both men and women can wear pants and it is socially acceptable, but they are usually cut differently. I guess "gender bending" for women wearing jeans would be women wearing baggy jeans or jeans cut for men; and gender bending for men would be wearing jeans cut for women.

  4. its not cross dressing. society says pants are for men and women. i am not looked at as "masculine" when i wear jeans, so clearly, it is not cross-dressing.

and yes, you could wear a kilt if you were in scotland, because over there it is considered mens apparel.

what you wear is relative to where you are.

for example, the long white gowns the men wear in the gulf arab countries remind me of dresses..but relative to the place theyre living, its for men.

  5. Wearing pants is not cross dressing, as long as they are covered over with some other clothing.. Wearing jeans without anything else to cover over them is.

  6. r u jealous

  7. hmmn....

well you better consider the fact that the trousers are made for the female gender

i'm guessing your American because they are the only ones that call trousers pants!!!

    =D lol

  8. Wearing pants isnot crossdressing for women. In many places women have been wearing baggy pants and blouses alone (like China and Anatolia) and under their skirts (like Russia and Europe).

And men have been wearing long shirts (like in Arabic countries, which a bad intentioned person might have called "dresses") or kilts in Scotland ("skirts").

You KNOW what crossdressing is. Why are you people trying to mix things up? Holy books say don't be transsexuals and that is that! Duh!

  9. Women wearing pants is not cross-dressing.

    Peace for all!

  10. AS there are woman pants ;)

basically In Islam women are not to imitate men, and vice versa.

  11. Yeah, I don't get it either.  I'm not g*y at all, but I do like to wear dresses.  I went to school with a dress on and got in trouble.  In fact, my math teacher took a grade point off of my grade because of it.  Where's the freedom we supposedly want?  It seems to me that most people are abusive control freaks.  Of course, such people would be the ones running the world.

  12. I wear "Ladies" Slacks/Pants. Designed for Ladies. No man I know would wear Ladies Pants. I don't wear mens clothes. Besides, they cover everything up. Unlike skirts with slits in them or dresses that blow-up in the breeze. They are far more modest than those s**y dresses and skirts.

EDIT: Kilts blow-up in the breeze. I'd reconsider that idea.

2000 years ago men did'nt wear pants either.

  13. bcuz menz pants r diffrnt from women pants..itz not da same...

  14. Just be yourself and wear the dresses in private.  Wear appropriate male clothing in public so you don't push it on the other folks going to the mosque or church or where-ever...

  15. Well what men and women wear would be according to social norms.

So whatever is normal for women to wear is fine for women to wear.
