  1. why did you use quotation marks around the word 'illegals'? thats exactly what they are, illegal.

  2. Yes, they will, or simply trek until the wall ends and walk around it.

  3. Trader G said it best.... thumbs up for him and honestly he deserves the top answer...

the idea of an 18'wall and a 19'ladder is metaphorical and accurate plus have you see what walls do to people? look at Israel and Palestine things are not doing well there after the wall was builld never mind the fact that if you look at South Texas you wouldnt know you are in or out of Mexico same culture, people and usually language.

  4. In some cases.  But where two hundred people use to rush three border patrol agents, just a couple will put the ladders up and try and get past the BP Officers.  In many cases, you cannot transport the material from the other side of the fence to the second and third sides of the fence and in urban areas where the Mexican Police encourage the illegal aliens to cross, those three fences work well.

In addition to all of that, those fences are .. smart ... fences.  They work well in a whole bunch of places including the area between Israel and the Palestinians.  Perfect belongs to the Lord, and good belongs to some on this side of the passage, and that fence, at this point, is good.

What that fence does that is so very, very good is.... stops narcotics smugglers as well as human smugglers.  When that many people approach the fence, the BP knows it, and can respond.  They are stopped, although I would be surprised if they catch everyone.  But the Border Patrol is not an old dog.. it learns new tricks and it does it very, very well.

  5. I personally think that it's useless.

If we just eliminated the social programs that they're sapping, the private sector would most likely take up the responsibility of them, and the illegal immigrants would either work to stay, or leave.

  6. Not if we electrocute the fence.

  7. yes, but we are hoping they will break a leg falling on the other side! easier to catch that way!

  8. So....it will still slow them down.  With the technology and personnel we already have at the border it will help quite a bit.  We also need to get our congress to get their heads out of the butts on this one.  People need to vote these jerks out of office.

  9. Mitt Romney said on the campaign trail that the border fence stops illegal immigrants for less than 30 seconds.  That got a laugh from the crowd, but then Romney said that border patrol officers told him that those few seconds are basically the difference between catching up with an illegal immigrant and an illegal immigrant slipping away into the country.

  10. A border fence should only be part of the solution. It will slow them down and give the National Guard (who should be here defending our borders like they're supposed to do instead of being in Iraq, but they can't pull out now I guess. that would be disasterous) a chance to incarcerate them.

The first line of national defense is the protection of our borders!!

  11. it would be like th Berlin war .Where there is s will there is a way

  12. Good answer TraderG, I want to add that 45% of the illegals, come legally and overstay their visas. So, that fence would only "try" to stop 55% of the wannabe illegals.

  13. If stopping them was the goal it's simple enough thing to do, the problem would have been accomplished. All of this is misdirection so the real problems, like a corrupt government, are never discused in any true forum.

  14. The government knows a fence isn't the real solution. They are not looking for a REAL  solution. They are trying to placate the American people. The real solution is easy. Stop citizenship to anchor babies, limit green card holders to just working, they have all the benefits of citizens but voting. The "Dream Act" would grant citizenship to illegals who attend college. It gives an unfair advantage to people who break the law over those who come here legally. Awarding citizenship to those who deliberately evade our legal system would penalize the legal applicants.

  15. everyone acts like it is impossible to guard our borders.

Our government has no problem guarding area 51

anyways, this has to be done in several ways.

Punish the employers who hire and take advantage of illegals.

Make the punishment harsh enough that no one would want to break the law by hiring an illegal. Cut all social programs for illegals.

Buid a fence that is heavily guarded.

Why would anyone want to come to a country for no gain whatsoever unless he is up to no good?

  16. not if we make an electric fence.

  17. Without "illegals" as you put it, you have no one to build your wall.

  18. Or tunnel.  If someone want to break into your house, they'll figure out a way.  The idea is to make it so hard to do, that they'll either not have the resources to do it or make it not worth their while.  So, by making illegals build a 19' ladder, they'll expend resources they would otherwise need.  Not many people carry around a 19' ladder.

In the larger context, just because someone (like me) favors a fence doesn't mean I'm a racists.  I wholeheartedly support people of all races, faiths, cultures, etc. coming to the Land of Opportunity as long as they do so legally.  (Honestly, if someone knocked on my door and needed shelter, I'd let them in.  Break into my house and you'll get a completely different response.)

Further, I don't particularly care what job skills someone has as long as they are willing to work.  ALL actual work is honorable and we need people to all sorts of things, be it doctors, lawyers, farmers, or garbage men.  We need all these jobs and many more in order for this country to run.

  19. sure, of course they would!!!   theres too much money to be made supplying drugs to americans. if "illegals" didnt build 19 foot ladders, american drug users would.....

  20. not if it covers the entire border, oh and is an electric fence!

  21. France built a the most fortified fence in the history of the world right after WW1 to keep the Germans out. Hitler used his Airborne and took control within four hours. He occupied France until it was reconquered after the Allies breached the Atlantic Wall (June 6, 1944).

When I was in the Military, stationed in Viet Nam, our base camp was surrounded by mines and concertina wire. Anyone could lay his rifle over the wire and walk across it within minutes. We were always restricted to the base and our biggest philosophical discussion regarded the fence; was it it keep them out or us in?

Other fences that failed were Check Point Charlie, Hadrian's Wall and the Great Wall of China; it's amazing what price people will pay for an illusion of security. Read "The Prince" by Machiavelli and you'll see how well you are being manipulated by the powers that be.

  22. That's the thing, the illegals who sneak in here don't get caught with ladders!!! They try to be as inconspicuous as possible, if our border patrol saw a bunch of people with ladders it would kind of give them away. They sneak underground, they try to be slithering in their quest to the U.S.
