So why can't we at least try to do this with humans, lest it might reveal the prospect of humans not being all equal after all.

  1. "Man-sized" grouper up to 1000 lbs.  I don't know what sort of men they are used to but that seems rather large for a man.

If you use genetics, we are all very close and our species has very little diversity compared to most animals.

  2. Notice it took genetic testing to classify. It wasn't a "reclassify" case.

So, if you did genetic testing and found someone like that, maybe. The rule of thumb for a new species is that it can't interbreed with another.

Finally, it would mean nothing "of humans not being all equal after all." as it would be a different species.

  3. Well, first off... Homo Sapiens is all the same species. So we aren't going to be reclassifying anyone as "subhuman."

But the great apes should be included as our sub species. Especially since it's quite probable that people and chimps can interbreed, and it's even possible that the offspring wouldn't be sterile!  People just won't admit how close we are to them, so I shouldn't hold my breath and wait any time soon.

  4. It could happen with the African Pygmies someday...

They've been isolated for so long, that the women reach Menopause in their mid-twenties, and most rarely live past age 40...

  5. If you meet several humans who are 10 feet tall and weigh 1000 pounds then yes...we can re-classify some humans.
