  1. They would become extinct. I raise lots of farm animals and not a single one of them would last anywhere in the wild. They would die a slow and painful death probably or starvation. They wouldn't be able to find their own food or water, and are not able to run from animals. We tried to let a couple of our chickens out of the coop and they were all dead the next morning. If one of our dogs gets loose and chases the steers, they would attack them if we didn't catch them. These animals have no instinct. Like I said before, it would be a disguisting mess of starving to death animals. Not to mention that they would be so easy to kill, they would be hunted by every carnivore. This would cause the population of certain animals like coyotes and wolves to grow exponentially. When the domestic animals all get eating, then the animals that were living off them starve to death because there is not enough food left for all of them. Oh, and the decaying mess that is left by all of these dead animals would become a breeding ground for epidemic diseases, which would in turn kill off its share of humans and animals. So in the long term it would suck if everyone went vegan.

  2. It depends on whether or not someone is still feeding the farm animals.

  3. If you don't eat farm animals, there's more for me to eat.  Thanks!

  4. No I don't think so. As the demand for meat falls, so will the production of farm animals. But this doesn't mean they will go extinct, it just means that they won't overpopulate the earth.

  5. lets be honest about this- we have caused the extinction of lots of animals and human actions will cause the extinction of many more. the genetic homogonizing of farmed animals that has taken place does make these populations unstable and they certainly have an increased risk of extintiction, especially without humans maintaining their populations. we have thoroughly screwed up many eco systems and there are no quick fixes. this is not to say that anyone should use this as an excuse to not become vegetarian. Eating less meat can only help the situation by putting less presure on farm yields thereby allowing the posibility of more genetic diversity (that of course does not mean it will happen).

  6. i don't think that we would become overrun with farm animals.  this would not occur because there would reach a plateau where the number of animals exceeds the amount of food/water/space (whatever) available to them.  natural predators, food supply, etc. is the way that animals maintain population control.

as far as going extinct, it's possible....but not likely.  cows were around long before humans started drinking their milk and eating their flesh.......same for chickens, pigs, etc.  however, the animals that are used in factory farming are freaks of nature....we bred them to be meat/milk factories instead of maintaining the survival set they once had to live in the wild.  so while it's unlikely that pigs, cows, etc. would go extinct, the ones that remain would likely be different than what we see in farms today.

    just my $0.02.

  7. If we do not eat animals then there is no point of keeping them trapped. So if we eat too many animals then they will become extinct.
