The truth, of course, is that we did not evolve from monkeys but that monkeys and humans evolved from a common ancestor to fill different ecological niches.  You are not a monkey's grandchild; you are a monkey's cousin.

And I know it's not really relevant to your question, but the story that Darwin found God on his deathbed is a straightforward lie.  He started out as a biblical literalist Christian, abandon Christianity around the time his young daughter died, and eventually became an agnostic.

We didn't evolve from monkeys but in the dim and distant past there was what is known as a common ancestor from which various apes and ourselves evolved. Have you ever tried reading up on the theory of evolution? It might help you understand the theory better and get rid of a few common misconceptions.

Think about it, your mother became pregnant with you, how does that involve the ape?  Hello?  God created you in your mother's womb from your father's seed, not from the ape.

Because they're still viable.  The language of English evolved from German.  That didn't require all Germans to suddenly drop dead.  You evolved from your parents.  Your birth didn't require them to die off, and nor did it require all other descendant lineages from your grandparents to drop dead.

So, one lineage of monkey gave rise to apes including, eventually humans.  Other lineages remained monkeying around.  There was nothing inevitable about the evolution of humans.  That's merely what happened to occur.

No, I didn't know that because it was an unfounded claim made by somebody who wasn't in the house at the time and, as far as is known, at any other time either.  This was the silly story Lady Hope told a newspaper years later.  As it happens, a very similar silly claim was made about Erasmus Darwin, his grandfather.  Stop spreading false witness in public places.  It's anti-social and makes you appear dishonest.

Its confusing, but andy museo / redfren is right, certain apes including humans are from a family called "hominidae" some of them we still see today as gorillas, and chimpanzee's, but although we're from the same family we didnt evolve from them, humans are from a different branch in the family tree, so to speak. Think of it like a tree, from one trunk is a few branches form those branches are more branches, from those branches are more branches, etc, until there are millions, all of the branches are connected in soem way but very distantly. It's darwin's theory, his own assumption, his own theory of evolution.

Think:

if we evolved from Monkeys, we could have become angels long ago.

All species are different. Human beings are one of them. We are not related to monkeys in anyway.
