If we go forward in time by moving quickly to we return back when we stop?

The was tests to show that when moving objects go into the future a couple of millisecond or more, when they stop moving do they stay in the future or do they return back to normal????

  1. They do not go "back into the past" a couple of milliseconds upon stopping, if that is what you mean.

    When they say that a fast moving object (say, an astronaut) travels into the future, what it means is that the moving object ages at a slower rate than non-moving things.  When the astronaut returns to earth, and his clock reads "x" hours, the clocks that stayed on earth will read "x" hours plus a fraction of a second.  It can therefore be said that the astronaut traveled a fraction of a second into the future.

    But once he's back on the ground, his clock and the other ground-based clocks will tick at the same rate.  Unless he actually synchronizes his clock to the ground-based clocks, his clock will continue to be a fraction of a second ahead of the others.
