It would be nice to have one phone number for the rest of your life no matter where you moved.

  1. that is possible with VoIP telephone service, or virtual numbers like those offered by grandcentral.com

a landline is wired from the local central office directly to your home... while you can port your number, you are limited to where you can bring your number... for example you could not have a land phone in a diffrent area code then the the local central office that your dial tone is generated from...

  2. I can do the same thing with my Packet8....I move from once place to another and just plug in my phone....! not with landline, but VoIP can do it!!

  3. As the two other people who have answered your question say Voip is the answer, take the phone with you and plug it into an internet connection.

The company that I use have gone one step further with their Voip, they have a service using video phones so you can see the other person as well as speak to them provided they also have a video phone.

This service is available now in N. America and will roll out over Europe this year.

If you would like more information email me and I will direct you to the company's web site.
