  1. If we put Iodine in plant leaves, it changes its color. Leaves are like Kitchen for plants where CO2 from air is fixed to form starch :)


  2. yes its colour change,if colour change from blue-black that indicates starch is present.but no chemical reaction take place.

  3. It depends upon which part of the plant you are putting for iodine test. Potato tubers which are rich in starch change their colour immediately to black blue. In short the tissues which store starch will change the colour while others will not.

  4. If you put iodine into the areas of the plant that contain starch, its color will change.

    For example, flower buds will not cause any change in color. Lettuce,carrots, tomato(fruit), etc. will remain neutral and so on. But corn kernels will cause iodine to change color. For color change to happen, iodine should come in direct contact with starch content.
