this is the road map to shimla from amritsar  the total distance is 265 k.m

and the route is as follows

jalandhar

phagwara

roopnagar

shimla

and for train you have to come ambala cant. and change train from ambala to kalka and from kalka to shimla in toy train

the total distance will  be 425 if you go by train.
