If we used had in a sentence should we used a past tense or a past participle verb after it?

"I had an asthma attacked." or should I say " I had an asthma attack."?

I had an asthma attack.  If you want to use the past perfect, it would be "I had had an asthma attack."  "Attack " here is used as a noun, not a verb.

Because attack is being used as a noun.

"I had an asthma attack. " is the correct one.
