My mother and I might be going to Rome. We haven't decided yet, but it's an 85% chance that we're going. When we do decide, when do we need to start booking? We've never done anything like this, so we're not exactly sure where to start....we've done researched plane tickets and hotels and found which are in our price range. We both already have passports...

  1. When I went to Rome, I booked about 5 months ahead. However, you can usually get cheaper fares for earlier bookings, and March is the low season. Instead of staying at an expensive Rome hotel, and if you want to see the countryside of Italy, look into a villa. I have friends at Villa Germaine in Arricia, which is about 25 minutes to Rome by train. Train fare is very inexpensive (about 3 Euros), and the owners of the villa will take you to and pick you up from the station. Beef up on your Italian though, as most people in the small towns do not speak English. It is very beautiful, and I recommend it to everyone i know traveling to the Lazio region. Have fun!

  2. Why not book it now...with the money you'd be saving you could afford the excursion rate if you have to cancel...

  3. March of next year!? Man, that sure is called planning ahead. I would wait some 3 or 4 months before booking. Shìt happens and your plans may change....

  4. About 3 months ahead would be safe and save. Especially for air ticket, where the earlier you book, the cheaper you get. Hotels in Rome is not likely to be hard to get...

    have a great fun!

  5. im going on a trip in march 08 and our trip is already planned and payments start at end of august.  reminds me got to go get my $400 payment in by end of the month

  6. Now, the sooner the better to make sure you get good rates and hotel rooms.
