If we were to colonize Mars?

Dont you think we should send black people

Black people would be are the most protected to UV ray exposure

Also no matter what if we did colonize Mars the population will gradually adapt into black people

Melanin in black peoples skin is high in density. Melanin filters out UV rays Mars has a high exposure to UV rays and other cosmic rays. Black people are less likley to get skin cancer on this planet hence they are more prone to protection from it and would be the best candidates to be the colonizers

I aint trying to be racist just expressing the reality also we are all one race the Human race so this should not make anyone sad remmebr the no black person has been to the moon correct me if im wrong and thats ok.

  1. dude, we havent even landed on mars yet, it's gonna be a WHILE before we can start developing the technology needed to terraform it.

  2. dont forget that white people are more protected against frost bite than black people.  and mars is cold. so theres an argument for sending only white people and not black people.

  3. Darker peoples are subject to reduced Vitamin D synthesis in the skin from sunlight exposure.Vitamin D deficiencies:

Rickets, a childhood disease characterized by impeded growth, and deformity, of the long bones. The earliest sign of subclinical vitamin D deficiency is Craniotabes, abnormal softening or thinning of the skull.

Osteomalacia, a bone-thinning disorder that occurs exclusively in adults and is characterized by proximal muscle weakness and bone fragility.

Osteoporosis, a condition characterized by reduced bone mineral density and increased bone fragility.

Creating an environment friendly to humans would be necessary-the planet would have to be seeded with plant life suitable to Mars to produce oxygen for humans. In the mean time, domes could be set up, but again, time, resources, and technology are needed and in very large mounts. Enviromental studies would be necessary to determine if there is any life-threatening germs or other life forms to humans. To promote the human species, genetic diversity is necessary so all ethnicities should be represented and sent. The martian temperature variation goes to extremes.

The temperature range on mars is around –140 °C (−220 °F) during the polar winters and to a high of upto 20° C (70° F) in summers. These extreme temperatures are because of the thin impression which cannot stock up much of solar heat. Gravity is 1/9 that of Earth so physically, humans will change and those traveling there will go through physiological changes.Days and years are longer so our circadian systemms will have to adjust making changes in our hormonal outputs. The anatomical and physiological changes are too dynamic to be all inclusive, but humans will look diifferent than on earth..

Ships to take large amount of people to Mars would have to be the size of large cities-and unwarranted amount of time, materials, and fuel(already running out of).Alternate sources of materials and new forms of travel would have to be developed.Genetic seed is a possibility -the technology is already in use to ferrtilize women.A trip to Mars one-way with current technology, would take about three years. Also, who would determine who goes and who doesn't.

Populating Mars is at least 150-200 years down the road.Manned flights to Mars would be the first step and would be possible within 5-10 years. This depends on if humans can survive.

  4.   Didn't you know the movie Total Recall was based on a true story!

  5. You are anticipating that the people sent there would be walking in their bare skin. The spacesuit (more specifically, the visor and the helmet of the spacesuit) given accommodates for any natural advantages/disadvantages so it wouldn't make a difference as to whether you are black or white.

I'm a Black Martian and this helmet is doing pretty good for me!

In response to your additional details, Earthlings would still need to wear all that, until some discovery is made on how to alter the genetic code of Earthlings so that it could easily adapt to the Martian environment. I was watching some Science documentary a while back and it stated that if Earthlings were to colonize Space, they may have to cut off their legs as it would be unnecessary during the travel in the space ship because you would be weightless. Why have legs when you are not even walking, and you would not be walking for a another possible generation? That being the case, certain alterations to the Human anatomy would have to be made.

  6. Nope, as others have pointed out unless you are walking around outside in your bare skin, being black wouldn't be any particular advantage. And if we're going to play this silly racist game, Mars colonists (and all astronauts) should all be full blood high Andes Indians, because they can function in much thinner air than other people, and thus would require less life support.  :)

  7. Lets land a man on the moon first,

  8. ummm yeah sure, whatever you say!

  9. Interesting concept.  What will humanity do when we have two planets to pollute?

And will the Mars Landing sites be preserved as historic sites for future visitors?

  10. NASA is currently working on its Mars Project in which they hope to make the planet habitable within the next century. They have actually built domes and are testing them. The first pioneers will venture out wearing spacesuits as our moon-walkers have done. Within a few centuries Mars will be terraformed so that most people will be able to live on the planet, no matter what their race or climate adaptation might be.

  11. Similar problems affect Australia, there is no ozone layer so the animals are blind.  It would be much easier to create some sort of a man made ozone layer, thus resulting in the melanine not being an issue.  So hypothetically if we do colonise mars we will need to find a way to create oxygen on the planet.
