  1. yes

  2. No loss.....no foul as long as you contacted the 8 first...might even be a time where you might even with intent foul by making one of your opponents balls...knowing that he can't run out.....for example:  the 8 is locked up with one of his balls....no pocket for either the 8 or his....his has one other ball left.....think about shooting his into the pocket....giving him ball in hand and let him solve the mess with the 8....he might just give it back to you with a safety....but still better then "wacking" at the 8 and opening it and his up for a run out.......play 8 ball like a chess game.....think!! before you shoot!!

  3. no its not even a foul if you hit the 8 first it might make you feel dumb but its not a loss i have done it to clear a pocket for my 8 ball shot.

you can play the 8 off his-or her ball as long as you call your pocket.for the 8.

  4. As long as you call the 8 ball , and hit it first , it doesn't matter if you make the opponents ball. As long as you make the 8 ball in the called pocket and don't scratch or foul you win!

  5. no you only lose if you scratch or put the 8 ball in the wrong pocket

  6. No, that is not correct.

    4.20   LOSS OF GAME

A player loses the game by committing any of the following infractions:

    1.         Fouls when pocketing the 8-ball (exception: see 8-Ball Pocketed On The

                Break).

    2.         Pockets the 8-ball on the same stroke as the last of his group of balls.

    3.         Jumps the 8-ball off the table at any time.

    4.         Pockets the 8-ball in a pocket other than the one designated.

    5.         Pockets the 8-ball when it is not the legal object ball.

  7. No.  If you are down to shooting the 8 ball, the only thing that will cause you to lose is sinking the 8 ball in the wrong pocket or a scratch.

    P.S. Excellent link Solly.  Thanks.
