If you're a sophomore (10th grade) in an American High School, what grade would you be in in Japan?

  1. In Japan they also have 12 years of secondary education, Middle School, 7-9, and High School, 10-12.

    So, likely you could be a 10th grader in Japan, too.

    Except, going to High School is not mandatory, and you have to make good grades to stay there.

    It's said that Japanese high school students learn almost as much as most American students will learn, by the time the graduate from college.

    American students normally work the hardest in college, and in Japan they work hardest in high school.

    And their standardized test schools show it.
