  1. I knew I wanted to be a teacher by age 13 I was inspired by my second grade teacher I kept my hope of becoming a teacher throughout high school and then I went to college and became a middle school teacher

  2. I am going to school to be an elementary teacher and I graduate in a year.  Honestly, I think that it is the best decision that I have made.  Once you get into schools and begin student teaching, you will realize how much you make a difference on the students and how much the students influence you too.  Consider the pros and cons, but I think that it is a great field to go into.  Good Luck!

  3. I knew I wanted to be a teacher in my second year of college. So I changed my major from business to education. I think I will be more happier as a teacher. Seeing as how I like to teach people and I enjoy learning.

  4. advice from another student...u don't really have to choose until your last to years of college to get ur B.A. degree...by then you will know...don't rush things though...get to know other things because maybe you'll end up liking them better than teaching

  5. I knew that I wanted to be a teacher in 2nd grade!!! I have been teaching for 31 years, and I still love it!  Actually, I wanted to be an elementary school teacher, but when I went to register, everyone was going into elementary ed., so I chose speech/hearing.  I ended up being a speech therapist and I love it!  I love kids and I feel so good when I can make a difference in someone's life.  It is extremely rewarding.  If you think that you would like to share your passion with students..go for it!  Those are the types of teachers that are needed.

  6. I'm not a teacher now, but I am in college working toward my education degree. Honestly I was out of high school for 8 years before I decided to go back to college and when I had to select a Major teaching just felt like the right fit for me when I imagined what I would be doing.

The best advice i can give you as one student to another is don't go to college right away just because everyone says you need to. If you aren't ready for it then you are just doing yourself a disservice by going.

Personally I started out in computer science right after High School because I enjoyed working on computers in my spare time. Eventually along the line I decided I did not like it and dropped out of college. I spent maybe $1000 on a wasted semester in the computer science field at a local community college. I got a job and for a while wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Eventually I decided I was not happy with my current job and started looking for a new one. When most of the jobs I was looking at wanted a degree of some kind I looked back at going to college and here I am now in my 3rd semester working toward becoming a teacher and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
