  1. Why would it be bad?  A vegetarian is one who eats veggies.  FFA stand for Future Farmers of America.  I don't see how the two would conflict.  Yes you do learn about animals and their purposes.  One of them being used for meats.  So unless you have a problem with people who eat meat then you should be fine.  It offers a lot more pros than cons in my opinion.  As long as this is an interest to you.  Great opportunities.  Check it out.  The worst thing is that you would be offended and withdrawl your membership.

  2. Future Farmers of America supports factory farms, but it also supports farming of produce.  There is nothing wrong with joining the FFA, just make sure you know which causes you are supporting.  Just don't involve yourself with activities they may have that support livestock farming.  FFA can be a great way to educate yourself about farming and gain experience.  We need farmers to grow fruit and veggies too, you know. =)

  3. you're still supporting farming, If your beliefs don't interfear with the slaughter of animals than go for it.

  4. I don't think so. If you are passionate about being a vegetarian for humane and health reasons, It'd be the perfect way to start making a difference in the way things are done.

You can farm more than just animals too. You could support Organic Cotton Farming :0) That'd be nice.

I just read diet for a new america by John Robbins and it was a real education. If you are interested in promoting change you should check it out. It goes into great detail about the hormones and pesticides used by many of todays farmers.

  5. No.  Why should it be?  Farming is still an honorable profession.
