If you're an Oceanologist, usually how long would you stay at sea?

My uncle is an Oceanologist and I never see him.

  2. Most oceanographers don't go to sea - they sit in front of computers all day and analyse data. That might be why you don't see your uncle much..!

  3. depends on the type of study and the oceanologists personality. if the study is on whale behaviour, for example, then it takes years at a time. if its on planktonic blooms, then it could be just a month or two.

    if the oceanologist is fond of the sea, then he'll almost never think of landing.
