  1. People arrested for certain crimes, such as drugs, can have their money seized, which goes to the city coffers.

Most inmates keep their money and it goes onto their canteen account, which they spend to buy candy, pop, t-shirts, etc.  If they don't want to buy anything then the money either sits in their inmate account or they release it to family.

  2. If it's not evidence or the profits of a crime, it's held . If the subject gets a court appointed lawyer, it can be used to partialy off set the cost to the government. It may then go to a victim for retittution , it may be released to a person designated by the defendant, or if it's within the limits deposited to his commissary account.

  3. once the person is sentenced, it will go to whoever they want it to go to. The State/police/D.A. ect can't touch it

  4. It usually goes into evidence until after the trial and then it's pretty much up to the judge and DA, I doubt that the criminal gets it back in any state. Usually its illegally obtained and goes into the police fund or victims fund-where all illegally obtained money should go...

  5. No, if it is yours, they put it in your jail account.  Unless you ask them to send it to a friend or family member.  It is on your property.  More than likely it will just go in your prison account, everyone has one.

  6. As long as whatever they have on them is not evidence in the case, the person would authorize someone he knows and trusts to go get his stuff.
