ok...this question just popped into my head...

lets say that a mexican woman, and a native american man get together and have a baby....yet the baby is born in canada. but it grows up in the usa. is it canadian? i mean ethnicity wise. not nationality wise....

i guess another reason i ask this is because theres this girl (who is as white as snow!) says that shes african because she was born in africa (but lived in the usa since she was about 1)....is she african?

  1. The baby would be Mexican and native American but yet he or she would be American. She would only be Canadian by birth. Honestly she can be anything she wants in which she identifies with.

  2. If the baby was born in Canada, it does have Canadian citizenship but it probably would not consider itself Canadian since it didn't grow up there and the parents aren't Canadian.  If the child had grown up in Canada also, it would be different.

My sister lived overseas for a number of years with her husband and kids.  Today, those of her kids who spent a big part of their childhood overseas consider themselves partly from that country even though they were not born there but the younger ones who were born there but don't remember living there do not.

I think this girl that you know can't possibly consider herself african just because she was born there.  She is probably just saying that because she thinks it's cool because she's white.  However, there are a lot of white ppl who are African.  I know a couple of S-African guys who are pure white, blonde and blue eyed.  White people have lived in S-Africa since the year 1652.

  3. Canada adheres to the principle of "jus soli" which means that a person born within its soil or boundaries is considered a citizen.

  4. do you honesty think only black people are born in Africa?

  5. there are both white and black people in African...so yes if she says she's African then she probably is. if a baby is born in Canada then it is Canadian..no matter what the parents are.
