  1. Probably American, not that's not an absolute given. In order for the child to be an American, one or the other of the American parents must  have at least 5 years residency in the US including 2 years since the age of 14. Most of the time, that's no problem, but sometimes it is.  As for dual citizenship, many countries do not recognize birth within their borders to automatically confer citizenship. In many countries in the Middle East, for example, the child automatically gets the citizenship of the father, so, it's possible that generations of families living in some countries, may not qualify for the citizenship of that country.

  2. I think, you might just be able to have a dual citizenship (yay!) or because BOTH your parents are American, you would remain only as a U.S. citizen. When parents are from different countries, I suppose that makes it easy for a dual citizenship.

Dual citizenships really come in handy espessially when there is a war draft going on in one country, you could visit the other until the war or draft has ended.

  3. Austrian, like Szwarcenengger

  4. Handy Girl is right. But your parents also need to register you with the American embassy or consulate at the place where you were born. My brother in law and wife had their baby in Mexico and that's what they did to get baby a passport before they could enter the US.I think it's called a certificate of birth abroad. Depending on  the laws of the country you were orn you may or may not get the citizenship of that country...

  5. if either one or both of your parents is a U.S. citizen, then you get a U.S. citizenship. however, you may or may not also get citizenship in the country you were born, depending on thier laws there. but i believe when you turn 18 you have have to choose which one you want, the U.S. won't let you keep the other citizenship.

  6. You would be considered an American citizen born abroad. However, you may also be considered a citizen of the other country, depending on which one. However, your American citizenship cannot be taken away from you and you have the same rights and privileges as any other American. Your parents will need to notify the vital records office in the city where you will reside, so that your birth can be recorded and an American birth certificate can be issued to you

  7. you'll get dual citizenship

  8. For U.S. purposes, you are the same nationality as your mother if you were born on foreign soil and she is a U.S. Citizen.  I am assuming that she was born in the USA?
