If you're child or close relative dies abroad, without insurance, how do you organize repatriation,?

How do you go about organizing reptriation, and if your relative does not hold insurance what happens then? If repatriation is too expensive will they have to be buried in the country which they died?

  1. Different governments have different procedures.  There are many options.  Perhaps if you could be more specific...


  2. Is the deceased a citizen of that country where he died? Legally, only the next of kin can make those arrangements. If your religion permits, I strongly suggest cremation for the deceased. It is easier to bury or transport. It is cheaper too.**

    I think FedEx, UPS and DHL will not transport cremated ashes as they are uninsurable. Only the Post Office will via Parcel Post.
