can you have someone take you to your gate... if you're 17......

I think its only when you are 16 they can have someone do that. Call the airline.

you're going to be totally fine its so easy. have your parents walk with you up to the security checkpoint. once you get through security just ask one of the people where your gate is. typically your ticket will be like terminal A gate 32. so when you go through security, you'll be going through security for gate A. all you have to do is walk down the hallway until you see a big sign for 32. they are are very clearly stated. then you get coffee or read or sit around bored until its time to board.

You can call your specific airline and inquire if they will allow you to get a gate pass for your parent or guardian to escort you to your gate.  If they say yes, your escort will need to bring a photo ID with them and go to the ticketing counter to obtain the pass.  The pass will allow them to go through security and to the gate with you.

If you can not get a gate pass, don't worry,  Most people in the airport are willing to help lost passengers.  You can ask any airline or airport personnel how to get to your gate.  Often other passengers are willing to help you if you ask.
